He best known for his current portrayal of the rebellious former-chauffeur, Tom Branson, in the internationally successful ITV drama series, 'Downton Abbey'.

Allen has reportedly joined Jonathan Mostow’s Hunter’s Prayer, alongside Sam Worthington and Odeya Rush. Adapted from Kevin Wignall’s novel For The Dogs by Paul Leyden, Oren Moverman, John Brancato and Michael Ferris, the film tells the story of Lucas, a hired assassin (Worthington) sent to target Ella (Rush). Instead, he bonds with her and cannot carry out his assignment. Lucas is then targeted, and the pair flee across Europe. Allen will play the role of Lucas’ former employer.
